My name is Dom Gourlay and I’m a writer, journalist, DJ and promoter based in Nottingham, UK.
I’m currently the Festivals and Live Reviews Editor for Under the Radar.
Prior to that, I was part of the writing and editorial team and Drowned In Sound for 18 years until its closure in April 2019.
I have also written for Gigwise, Artrocker, FMS, Music Week and Record Collector as well as producing biographies for artists and contributing prose for record sleeves.
I currently promote shows in Nottingham and Derby under the guise Some Velvet Evening and have curated artists and stages for festivals such as Dot To Dot, Liverpool Psych Fest, Rockaway Beach, ATP, Summer Sundae, Karma Weekender, Viva Sounds and of course, Focus Wales.
I also DJ regularly at Rough Trade, the Bodega and Billy Bootleggers in Nottingham where I’ve held a residency since September 2022, am the regular DJ at Rockaway Beach festival (including the closing party) and have slots lined up at a number of other festivals this year.
